Anderson’s Gourmet Garlic grows good hardneck garlic, no softies around here. We are a mom and pop operation who has been growing vegetables and garlic for over 40 years now.
Biggest & the Best
Our garlic growing wisdom was passed along by the Doukhobors of the Kootenays who prized garlic enough to bring it along with them when fleeing Russia. Although there are many people growing garlic these days we still grow the biggest and the best in town.
Naturally Grown
All of our garlic is naturally grown with no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. We have chosen not to be organically certified as the extra cost and headache would raise our prices considerably.

~ Our Garlic Varieties ~
We originally started with the descendants of the original garlic brought with the Russian Doukhobors in Nakusp, BC and now we have cultivated some comparable varieties that are our favourites!
Listed from mildest to hottest.
Persian Star Garlic
Uzbek Purple Stripe garlic with rich, sweet flavour; great roasted or raw. Mild, easy to peel, and stores well.
Chesnok Garlic
Heritage Purple Stripe garlic—ancestral variety with rich, complex flavour and ancient healing traits. Not overly sulphurous. Stores well.
Creme de la Rasa Garlic
Lumby-grown Marble Purple Stripe garlic with large cloves and smooth Rocambole flavour. Mild, flavourful, and easy on the palate.
Tibetan Garlic
Tibetan garlic with bold heat and lasting flavour—even spicy scapes. Ancient monk remedy and great keeper from high altitudes.
Red Russian Garlic
Popular Marble Purple Stripe garlic with large, consistent cloves, medium heat, rich flavour, and excellent storage life.
Yugoslavian Garlic
Hottest Porcelain garlic—bold, spicy, and flavourful. Perfect for heat lovers. Grows and stores exceptionally well.
